Most people have their own personal concept of what “sexy” is. The umbrella of “sexy” covers many ideals. As society has changed, so to have ideals, examples, and vision of what it is that defines sexy. Sex, for most of the twentieth century, was considered to be a topic that should not be discussed in polite company. The Victorian era made the discussion of sex a taboo. But coupled with the ascension of the film industry as an entertainment media for the masses a profound shift on society mores resulted. Big Screen sirens were usually more willowy than most other women for their time. It was driven by a simple enough reason; cameras add pounds, so stars have to be slimmer to look normal on screen. The frequent public exposure of these sex symbols gradually helped to shift the social view of sexy from voluptuous to thin.
When you look back in time, voluptuous women were considered to be most desirable. Men were attracted to larger women because they understood that they tended to be better child bearers and more nurturing. Even 50,000 years ago, figurines that have been unearthed have shown that larger women were considered to be mother figures and the embodiment of life. Their ideal of the embodiment of a fruitful and renewing life. In the play “Fiddler on the Roof”, which is a story about Russian peasant society at the turn of the twentieth century, one of the songs depicts a rich man's wife as having a “proper double chin”. It is recognition of the fact that throughout history, and in most societies today, except western culture, being large is considered a status symbol because it shows that you have plenty to eat and therefore must be a good provider.
Near the end of the twentieth century, North America has seen a lot of immigration from mid-east and far eastern cultures. The ideals of these cultures is helping to shift the norm of society back to a preference for larger families and a shift in the perception of larger women as being more desirable wives and mothers. The well endowed woman is back in fashion. Perhaps in a few more years, more heavy women will be seen as iconic sex symbols. Similar to Mae West in the 20's and 30's, you are starting to see fuller figured women enjoy a revival in Hollywood again.
Society is undergoing another shift so that skinny boy figures are less acceptable and voluptuous naturally endowed women are back in fashion. With plastic surgery, big boobs are back in style, even on skinny women. Young women are spending more and more money on double and triple push up bras. The result is a lot of disappointed men who date a skinny woman with large breasts only to find the mountains become mole hills when they have sex. Men are discovering that a more voluptuous woman will never let down their expectations. BBW women are now at the cusp of their renaissance!

Online Dating Survey Results:
Here is a summary of the results of a study about the online dating practices of urban dwellers. This was the culmination for interviewing just under 100 men and women about how they date online and what they look for in potential dates and partners. Online dating may not result in you finding the love of your life, but it may be an interesting diversion from all those hard to believe eHarmony.com and Match.com TV commercials that try to convince you about how lonely you are during late night movies.
Resulting Insights about Dating:
1) People who date online attempt to put the odds in their favor when trying to find their soul mate. As such, it is not uncommon for someone to join 5 or more different dating sites at the same time. On the same note, they are also more likely to date several people concurrently, trying to keep all of them on the string until they can make a final choice. Kind of like the online world's version of “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette”. In any event, you would want to play the field until you find someone that you really bond with. After all, in real life, you are probably meeting a friend of a friend, or at least have had some opportunity to watch them interact with other people at your favorite watering hole. That tends to prescreen the people that you would actually go out with before you make any sort of commitment to one-on-one dating. In actual fact, in most conventional dating scenes, you are actually doing some multi-tasking on the pre-screening front before you ever interact in the first place. Online dating sites cannot give you that same intuitive comfort before your first real interaction that you get in more conventional dating scenes, therefore, with online dating, the meet in person step tends to be more often a miss than a hit.
2) Online Dating is a visual media at best. If you do not post pictures or videos of yourself, especially in situations where you are having fun with others, you can expect little or no action. Ladies about having less than average looks. If you do a good job of portraying yourself in both words and pictures of someone who loves to have fun, you will get positive results. For both men and women, this is a marketing exercise – the key here is not to take a crappy looking big-nosed picture of yourself staring into your web-cam’s fish eye lens – everyone already knows that you stare at your computer a lot because you are on an online dating site in the first place. There is no need to supply a picture of you in such an unflattering pose. The key is to portray an image of you as a person who has fun interacting with other people, animals, children, sports events, etc. If you are a woman, just remember that men see and assume – most do not read much, they look and evaluate visually for the most part, so keep the words to a minimum. If you are a man – pay attention to the words as best you can – look for the “must not be” things that many women pre-qualify their profiles with, and do not annoy them if you are a “must not be” person. Women are generally strong communicators; hopefully having to read “likes long walks on the beach” for the umpteenth time will not make you lose your cookies. In any event, for both men and women, keep the brief and factual (within limits of course – this is marketing after all). If you are lucky, you will find a person with a really funny and offbeat sense of humor that meshes with your own sense of silliness. The anonymous chat and email services are there for your benefit and safety. Use them extensively before agreeing to meet in person for the first time. Do not try to give your life story in the profile. Your profile is a 15 second ad spot, not an biography of your life.
3) Men without strong advancement prospects, or God forbid, no jog at all will find it difficult making much headway on some specialty dating sites where people are focussed on success. In their heads, women are looking for winners, not losers. On the other hand, if you connect to a woman's soul, they will often overlook the fact that you are a bicycle courier, as long as you are able to show her that you have solid future prospects. By the way, keep information about your personal finances close. There are a lot of gold diggers out there!
4) Full figured women are actually not at the disadvantage that they often think they are. As long as you have it reasonably under control, many eligible guys are okay with a little padding around the middle. As long as you keep yourself in decent physical shape, you have an excellent chance of establishing a lasting relationship with a man. In any event, most women will post a profile of themselves at a younger and lighter age, and then proceed to lighten the age load a few years on top of that in their profile. Men will often lie about their income, but are usually quite truthful about their ages. Men are almost always athletic or average, and almost none admit to being overweight or obese.
5) There cannot be love in the online world, only attraction. To have love, you must have contact with the person. You either click, or you do not. It is the daily interactions and small interpersonal body language signals that are at the root of love. The average time between meeting on a dating site and meeting in person is about two to four weeks. You must be cautious on a dating site, but you cannot be overly cautious or you will fail. If you are attracted to someone, so are other people, and you have to compete for their attention. Putting off a face to face meet for too long will doom you to failure.
6) There is a bit of stigma associated with dating sites. The real problem with online personals sites is that they have had a reputation in the past for being the hangouts of losers and predators. Nothing is further from the truth. With this in the back of their minds, people sometimes avoid using dating sites so they will not be branded a loser, or looked at as a potential sexual preditor or something equally disgusting. The fact is that over 60 million people in North America have used online dating sites in the last few years, and there are just not that many losers and predators in North America. You are likely more at risk in conventional dating as you are with online dating. People are strangely closed mouthed about telling people that they met online, which leads many people who have never used a dating service to assume it is useless, or worse yet, just a scam. This tendency to be closed-mouthed is kind of silly because everyone knows that people who date to have met at some time, so why try to hide it.
7) Online dating sites are an extremely powerful social tool that brings people together who would never normally have ever met each other. The fact that everyone on the site is looking to meet someone for the purpose of dating, or establishing a long term relationship, it is incredibly easy to start up a conversation with someone that you have never met. You already have at least one subject in common – dating. Online dating is actually the best forum for people to meet when they are just too busy, too tied up, or just not inclined to be wandering around bar hopping or social clubs trying to meet people. Online dating is one of the most modern types of tools for people to use on the internet. It is where the cool guys hang out these days. People like you who are not afraid to try something fairly new, or not quite in the mainstream. The road to future happyness will still have a few nails, so you will likely still get your share of flat tires. No matter though, just keep on trucking.

Several years ago I found my self alone, when my husband, and father of my 2 children, left us. I entered a period where I worked hard, looked after my kids as best I could, and had virtually no social life to speak of. My two best friends, also single mothers, helped get me through this period. What social life we had was usually at one of our homes together, snacking, watching TV, or just talking. Often our conversations wandered into what type of man we would like to have in our lives the next time love came calling. Of course we didn't really expect to meet our “Mr Perfect” anytime soon.
A friend of mine suggested that maybe I try out this brand new dating site that had just started up. I'll call it, “MEN-R-US” to avoid any liability issues so I went online to give it a go. I met this dork, I mean male shortly after joining, he seemed smart, seemed articulate and humorous. We chatted back and forth for a few weeks, as I informed him that I wanted to take things slow and that it had been a long time since I had been with a man in any kind of a relationship. I brought up the subject of my children early on, and he was fine with that because he said he had a son as well. He said that he loved kids and that being with his son was the biggest joy in his life. Everything seemed good to me, so I agreed to go out for dinner and dancing with him.
I went all out for that date! Hair, manicure, new dress, everything! I had arranged for a good friend to babysit and had picked her up earlier. As I sat there putting on my makeup, I was totally stressed out that he would not find me acceptable. I have to admit that I was halfway in love with the guy and I had not even met him. I really wanted this to work out. My friend told me to calm down before I hyperventilated, she told me to try not to look too needy or I would scare him off. If only I had, this story would have had a different ending! So after collecting my self I went outside to wait for him as he was going to swing by and pick me up. Suddenly, there he was! I was so impatient to set my eyes on his gorgeous body, dreamy green eyes and wavy blond hair that I literally rushed up to his car as it pulled into the driveway. I bent over to say hi and was shocked senseless! I hoped that it was not him and that he had sent a friend over to tell me that he could not make it. I actually pinched myself to wake up from this horrible dream, but to no avail. There he sat, and he sure was not what I was expecting! I was so stunned that I just stood there like a dumb mute. Not knowing what else to do, I silently got into the car.
All the way to the restaurant I keep asking my self why are you in a car with a guy who looks like hes wearing a squirrel on his head. I guess I fell for the oldest online dating trick in the book. The fake profile picture.. He looked to be bald under that cheap rug. But the more I looked at it, the more it seemed that he just had it on wrong. Backwards or something stupid like that. His eyes were not the amazing green of the online profile either. He had dark eyes that were all bloodshot. He looked like he had a serious drug addiction. The well toned muscles in the picture were nowhere in evidence on this sorry excuse for a man. On top of everything, his idea of a top ranked restaurant was slightly better than a MacDonald's, only not as clean. I prayed that no one I knew would see me with this dork, not just for my own sake but because I did not think my children could ever live it down.
We walked in and sat down at a corner table with a white table cloth and a candle in a little glass. It was actually not that bad looking from the inside. The decor was nice, and the waiters were all dressed in suits and ties. Maybe his idea of classy was not that bad after all. I had a chicken caesar and he had pork chops. He had a bad case of roman hands and russian fingers if you get my drift. My hand was sore from slapping at him before the entree was served. He made a remark about me being hot to trot since I had not had sex in years, and how I must be raring to have at it with a real man. I politely told him if I wanted to be with a real man I would not be here with him. After eating, he asked me to dance. Once again, I had to keep removing his hands from various parts of my anatomy. I guess to show me what a great catch he was he decided to show off his dancing prowess. He tried to jive with me. At one point his hand slipped out of mine and I stumbled into the bar. Well that was about all I could take. I stormed out of the restaurant and caught a cab outside to the hospital. I was lucky that my broken nose set almost straight. In any event it is a constant reminder that I need to be more careful.
No more dating advice for me! From that point on I did my own site sleuthing. I worked long and hard and found several decent sites.
During my site research, I found the following link, and it made it easy for me to select sites that were the best for me.:
